Artist Statement:

I am a photographer deeply influenced by the wild beauty of the Siskiyou Mountains where I live and by the stories light and shadows tell in an image. My first love in photography was Black & White Portraits and shooting artistically with film. When the world went digital, I adopted a used Nikon 7100 with a Nikkor 17-55/2.8 lens and never looked back. Life leads me to wild places and interesting people. Whether shooting art portraits or nature, I always seek the space between the smile and frown, the day and night, the obvious and obscure. Photography is a profound way to explore the contradictions and beauty of light and shadow in this world. You can find my work at www.michellemcafeephoto.com
